CARROLLTON, TX.—The Super Colon, an 8-foot tall, 20-foot long replica of a human colon, is headed to the Patients’ Comprehensive Cancer Center (PCCC) on March 11th, 2008. Carrollton will be the 19th stop for the Super Colon, which will be traveling all over the United States to 39 different cities to teach the importance of colorectal cancer screening. Colorectal cancer is preventable and successfully treatable, when detected early, yet it remains a leading cause of cancer deaths.
The purpose of this event is to teach people about the risks, symptoms, prevention, early detection and treatment options for colorectal cancer. As people walk through the Super Colon, they get a close-up view of healthy tissue, tissue with non-malignant colorectal diseases, as well as tissue with various stages of colorectal cancer.
“We are excited to be able to host such a worthwhile event at our cancer center, and we encourage people to come out and educate themselves on this disease,” said Dr. Birenbaum, founder of the Patients’ Comprehensive Cancer Center. “Knowledge is power, and colorectal cancer affects both men and women from all walks of life.” The Super Colon is a free event that will be at Patients Comprehensive Cancer Center from 1pm to 8pm. PCCC is located at 4352 North Josey Lane, Carrollton, TX 75010.
