Carrollton, TX ---- Patients Comprehensive Cancer Center is excited to announce that they are hosting the 2nd Annual Lung Cancer Screening Program for a limited time. Appointments for the screening will be taken between November 16th and December 14th. All screenings must be completed by January 15th.
The Lung Cancer Screening program will consist of a Chest CT scan which will be performed without any Contrast having to be injected intravenously. The cost for this screening has been significantly lowered to $199.00 to promote the American Cancer Society’s Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
According to a previous article in the New England Journal of Medicine, using a CT scan to screen high-risk adults for lung cancer, the scabs can find small tumors that are curable. This latest research adds to a growing body of evidence that screening for lung cancers can save lives.
People who are most at-risk for lung cancer are:
- Those who smoke cigarettes, cigars or use pipes;
- Those who have been exposed to Radon or Asbestos;
- Those who have had other lung diseases, such as Tuberculosis;
- Those who have a personal or family history of cancer.
“While we are excited to learn that cancer rates are dropping overall, knowledge is power, and we need to continue to devise programs that will educate and bring awareness of cancer to the public”, said Dr. Dennis Birenbaum, Founder and CEO of the Texas Hematology/Oncology Center Network. In addition to the Gift of Life screening at Patients Comprehensive Cancer Center in Carrollton, the McKinney Regional Cancer Center in McKinney, will also take part in this program.
